Ethnic Communities

The Faith Formation and Missionary Discipleship for Ethnic Communities team works within the Office of Lifelong Faith Formation and Parish Support in service of our Ethnic and Cultural Communities.

The team supports any parish or institution of the Archdiocese of Boston in need of assistance with understanding evangelization and faith formation concepts and implementing best practices for cultural groups and communities.

The main focus of this team is:

  1. To serve parishes in collaboratives with ethnic/cultural communities as part of the implementation of Disciples in Mission, the pastoral plan for the Archdiocese
  2. Provide support to ethnic/cultural apostolates, pastors, parishes, schools, and catechetical leaders related to ethnic/cultural faith formation for children, youth, young adults, and adults.
  3. Be a resource for parishes, archdiocesan agencies, ethnic/cultural apostolates and the communities themselves for education and communication in fostering integration of the various cultures and faith expressions into the Church of Boston.
  4. Assist in providing and forming priests to celebrate masses in different languages throughout parishes in the Archdiocese of Boston.

Our team offers evangelization and faith formation workshops, consultation, retreats, and training, to parishes, schools, and apostolates with Ethnic/Cultural communities throughout the Archdiocese of Boston. We also work closely with different ethnic/cultural Apostolates to assure that all communities are receiving the care and resources in accordance with their language and culture.

Black Catholic Ministries, although not an ethnic group but a cultural group, falls under our team through the care of Our Black Catholic Consultant, whom serves both newly arrived ethnic groups and the Black Catholic Community as a whole.
