The Archdiocese of Boston Holy Hour For Life is held annually in parishes in conjunction with the national observance of a Day of Prayer and Penance marking the January 22 anniversary of the Roe v Wade decisions legalizing abortion on demand in the United States. The bishops of the United States have established January 22 as a particular day of penance “for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion, and of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life.” General Instruction of the Roman Missal, no. 373
The Holy Hour is prayed during the week surrounding the anniversary of Roe v Wade on January 22, 1973 at parishes, college campuses, hospitals, convents, and on the buses carrying our teens and seminarians to Washington, D.C. All those faithful to the inherent dignity of all human life from conception to natural death in the Archdiocese of Boston are invited to participate.
Booklets are provided free of charge to all parishes and other sponsors of the Holy Hour For Life. The Holy Hours for Life are coordinated by the Boston Deacons For Life and the Pro Life Office.
