Mission Statement

The Archdiocesan ministry with persons with disabilities has its foundation in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, as revealed in the Gospels and interpreted in recent Church documents. As such, we strive to bring about the full and active participation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of the life of the Church in the Archdiocese of Boston, and in society

  • Annual Mass celebrating the anniversary of the 1978 U.S. Bishops Pastoral Statement on Persons with Disabilities
  • Collaboration with pastors and parishes in assuring Sacramental access for children and adults with disabilities
  • Accessibility site reviews and feasibility studies for parishes and schools
  • Resources for pastors and parishes on architectural and program access
  • Financial resource information for funding accessibility efforts and projects
  • Disability awareness and education programs
  • Spiritual direction
  • Strategies on improving access, inclusion and participation for Catholics with disabilities
  • Information and referral resources regarding programs and services available to persons with disabilities
  • Pastoral presence, support and outreach to all those affected by the experience of disability
  • Promote attitudes conducive to increased understanding among persons with disabilities and the non disabled
  • Promote methods by which the Archdiocese of Boston might eliminate discrimination, injustice, exclusion, marginalization of persons with disabilities
  • Promote the Culture of Life which respects and dignity and worth of every human person
