 On March 17, 2010, Cardinal Seán O'Malley celebrated a special Mass for St. Patrick's Day at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.St. Patrick is the patron saint of the Archdiocese of Boston.At the Mass, Cardinal Seán blessed and distributed Shamrocks in honor of St. Patrick, who used the shamrock as an aid for teaching the doctrine of the Holy Trinity.  Cardinal Seán O'Malley of Boston and a delegation of US bishops visited Port-au-Prince Haiti, on Tuesday, March 2 to see firsthand the recovery efforts and to bring the love and concern of the people of Boston to their brothers and sisters in need. The Cardinal is a member of a recently formed Haiti Advisory Group that will assist the US Church in advising how best to provide for the long-term needs of the Church in Haiti.  Scenes from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on March 1, 2010, six weeks after the massive earthquake that left an estimated 300,000 people dead. Cardinal Seán O'Malley of Boston was to arrive in Haiti on Monday to see firsthand the recovery efforts and to bring the love and concern of the people of Boston to their brothers and sisters in need. The Cardinal is a member of a recently formed Haiti Advisory Group that will assist the US Church in advising how best to provide for the long-term needs of the Church in Haiti.
