Why Catholic?

whycatholicThe Archdiocese of Boston offers a faith formation and evangelization program for adults to explore the richness of their Catholic faith, deepen their relationship with Christ and share more fully in the mission of the Church. Simply titled Why Catholic? , the four-year program is solidly based on Sacred Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Participants receive in-depth information and insight into core beliefs, the sacraments, morality, and prayer.

Why Catholic? , developed by Renew International, is offered in Boston in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Lithuanian, Haitian -Creole and includes workshops, retreats, and meetings as small communities to share how we relate Catholic teaching to everyday life.

Successfully implemented in over 1,300 parishes in the United States, the program covers the basic teachings of the Church in terms of what we believe, celebrate, live, and pray. Throughout the entire process the program provides direction for strong evangelization outreach.

Year Three - Celebrate - Sacraments

CELEBRATE: Sacraments explores the importance of the Mass and Christ's presence in the Eucharist. The first four sessions focus on the liturgy and an understanding of the sacraments. The next two sessions examine Baptism, one on the sacrament itself and another on the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The last six sessions look at the remaining six sacraments.

CELEBRATE Event Fall 2014:  Eucharist - Bread for the Journey Focuses on the importance of full, active participation in Sunday Mass, the centrality of Christ’s real presence in the Eucharist, the celebration of the Paschal Mystery, and how Catholics live this mystery in their daily lives.
