Youth Ministry Coordinator (PT), St. Thomas Aquinas Bridgewater, MA

SUMMARY:  St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Bridgewater, MA is seeking a part-time Youth Minister Coordinator to design, implement, and build a strong and vibrant program for youth in grades 6-12. St. Thomas is a dynamic, family-centered parish community that consists of 1,100 children in our religious education program. For the past year, a youth group steering committee, comprised primarily of parents and with the full support of the parish staff, have coordinated various service and social events. The successful candidate will build off the work that was started by the steering committee and realize the vision for the program. The youth minister should have a strong love for the Lord and for middle school and high school aged teens, and be successful in creating an environment for our young people to experience Christ and His Church.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and coordinate a dynamic program through meaningful, ongoing spiritual, social, and service opportunities         
  • Communicate with priests, staff, parents, volunteers, parishioners, and teens through social media, emails, bulletin announcements, and website
  • Ability to recruit, empower, and lead a team of volunteers who work directly with the teens and with the support network of parents and volunteers
  • Be a visible face to the parish community through Mass attendance and other parish-sponsored events
  • Work closely with the Religious Education staff and youth ministry steering committee
  • Design and implement administrative tasks and budget as necessary
  • Attend relevant parish staff meetings
  • Maintain a strong personal life of faith.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Sincere interest in developing youth in grades 6-12 in their relationship with God
  • Healthy appreciation for young students with knowledge of current trends and culture
  • Maintain a strong personal witness supported by prayer life and participate regularly in the Sacraments  
  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant past experience in youth ministry are preferred
  • Must to be highly organized and an excellent communicator, must collaborate and work well with others
  • Expected to be available (for an average of 10-15 hours per week including) nights, weekends, overnights, and other times based upon the given schedule of events
