Buffalo, New York - July 12, 2010 - Holy Family Communications, a New York Corporation, and its President Jim Wright, are pleased to announce the agreement to purchase WBIX 1060AM in Boston, Massachusetts. The Station of the Cross Catholic Radio Network, a division of Holy Family Communications, will broadcast to a population of over 5.5 million. With our new upgrade, this 50,000-watt signal will become the largest market served by the Station of the Cross Catholic Radio Network.

Jim Wright, acknowledged, "We are very excited about bringing Catholic radio to the Boston community.  We feel truly blessed by the acquisition of WBIX 1060AM and the gift it is to broadcast the fullness of Truth with clarity and charity with our radio Catholic radio programming." Alex Langer, President of WBIX Corporation stated, "I am pleased to welcome Holy Family Communications to the City of Boston." The station expects to be fully operational by November 1, 2010, and is currently soliciting donations to meet their budgetary needs.

Scot Landry, the Secretary for Catholic Media for the Archdiocese of Boston stated, "Cardinal Seán O'Malley and many of us at the Archdiocese have hoped for years to have a strong Catholic radio presence here.  As you know, Boston has been one of the only major media markets without 24/7 Catholic radio.  The programming that will run has been proven nationally, and we are happy that Catholics in Boston now will be able to listen to it."

The focus of the Station of the Cross Catholic Radio Network is to broadcast excellent programming from the combination of national shows from EWTN, The Global Catholic Radio Network, along with local productions (daily masses, recitation of the Rosary, holy hours, and devotions) that are filling a hunger within the souls of listeners.

Holy Family Communications is a 501-c-3 non-for-profit Catholic radio apostolate whose mission it is to effectively evangelize through radio programming, new media, and community action. The Network proclaims the Truth revealed in the person of Jesus Christ, handed down by the Holy Spirit through the Magisterium, and laid out in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

In the mid 1990's, while visiting the monastery at EWTN, Mother Angelica, Foundress of EWTN, asked Jim and Joanne Wright and Mary Ellen Capece to return home to Buffalo and start a Catholic radio apostolate.  Jim, Joanne, and Mary Ellen lacked radio or media experience; however, after prayerful discernment, The Station of the Cross began their journey to bring Catholic radio to Western New York.

After overcoming a number of challenges, The Station of the Cross began broadcasting as WLOF 101.7 FM Buffalo on August 15, 1999, and is dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima. WHIC 1460 AM Rochester began broadcasting on July 1, 2003.  WHIC is dedicated to Our Lady's Holy and Immaculate Conception.  The Station of the Cross Catholic Radio Network broadcasts quality Catholic programming 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
