As Vicar General, Fr. Erikson has the honor of representing Seán P. Cardinal O’Malley and the Archdiocese of Boston. His ministry is devoted to taking Cardinal Seán’s vision for the Archdiocese of Boston and making it a reality. In this Archdiocese, the Vicar General is responsible for the oversight of nearly 2 million Catholics, in approximately 290 parishes, across 144 communities. As Moderator of the Curia, Fr. Erikson’s primary duties are to care for and to provide coordination of the personnel and efforts of the central administration of the Archdiocese. 

This office processes requests for papal blessings and parish related powers of attorney.

Please find below a letter entitled "Response to the Economic Crisis" from Fr. J. Bryan Hehir and Fr. Richard Erikson to the Pastors and Principals of the Archdiocese of Boston regarding pastoral responses to the  economic crisis.  This information was gathered from Pastors and Principals in the Archdiocese who responded to a request to share their best practices in order that other parishes and schools may benefit from this exchange of  information.  In addition, Catholic Charities and the Planning Office for Urban Affairs has  provided some great resource information and materials towards this same end.  This information is available on Bostoncatholic.org on the main page under Announcements, as well as on the Health and Social Services Secretariat web page and the Vicar General's web page.
