The Light is on For You - Lent

Mar. 09, 2011

The invitation to experience Christ’s love through the Sacrament of Reconciliation is one of the major initiatives of Cardinal Seán and the Achdiocese in 2010.  The Light is on For You initiative highlights the importance of this sacrament in the life of Catholics and increases its availability, hoping that every Catholic will visit this source of God’s mercy and healing love.

The Church asks all Catholics to take part in this sacrament at least once during the Lenten season.

Lent is a time of prayer, fasting, penitence, almsgiving and self-sacrifice in preparation to celebrate the passion of Christ, His death on Good Friday and His resurrection on Easter Sunday.  Each year, the season of Lent provides an opportunity to renew faithfulness, and for those who have been away from the regular practice of the faith this initiative offers a chance to begin again.

The Archdiocese has set up a website, www.TheLightIsOnForYou.org, with material to help with personal preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Please make plans to come and invite others to take advantage of this great opportunity to be reconciled with and begin anew a journey in faith during the Lenten season.
