Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy

YOM-600x233

The Church is commissioned to announce the mercy of God, the beating heart of the Gospel!
- Pope Francis, Misericordiae Vultus #12

Pope Francis has said, “In my opinion, the strongest message of the Lord is mercy.”  Throughout his papacy, he has expressed his belief in concrete ways:  by visiting the sick and imprisoned, sheltering the homeless around the Vatican, and by calling the Church to go to the peripheries, where God’s love and mercy are most needed.

He has said:  “The Church is commissioned to announce the mercy of God, the beating heart of the Gospel.”  In announcing his plans for this extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, he is calling us to announce the mercy of God to all.
