Welcome to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston Archive Department!
It is our mission to collect, preserve, and provide access to records of the parishes and administration of the Archdiocese of Boston. Furthermore, to assist researchers in their scholarly, genealogical, and other work, in an effort to cultivate a better understanding and appreciation of the history of the Archdiocese and the Boston Catholic community.
For information about how to find if your school is still open, closed, or to find our transcript reuqest form please visit our School Records page.
Sacramental records are not public records, however, we are pleased to allow access to those dating from 1789 through 1950 for general research purposes. Records from 1951 to the present will remain closed except to those named in the records or for official Church use.
Please note that we have digitized our sacramental records from 1789-1920, and they are available, for free, via AmericanAncestors.org. Please visit our Digital Collections Page for more information.
