It is the goal of the Pastoral Center to remain open during inclement weather unless travel conditions make it hazardous to get to work. Director of Faith Formation (DFF) and Family Ministry (FT), Sacred Heart and Saint Brigid Parishes, Lexington Catholic Collaborative

The full time Director of Faith Formation (DFF) and Family Ministry needs to be an enthusiastic, energetic lay ecclesial minister with a passion for working with young children and families, ministering at two parishes in the spirit of Vatican II at our Lexington Catholic Collaborative.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing, organizing and implementing programs for children in grades K-6, their parents and families in which evangelization needs to complement catechetical instruction.
  • Recruiting, training, supporting and assessing volunteer catechists with a focus on their spiritual enrichment.
  • Managing and improving an inventory of all catechetical materials.
  • Working collaboratively with the parish staff especially the Director of Youth Ministry who has responsibility for grades 7-10.
  • Managing a part-time administrative assistant in collaboration with the Director of Youth Ministry.
  • Organizing and implementing grade level masses including the oversight of volunteer catechists who conduct a Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) throughout the school year.
  • Organizing and implementing a Vacation Bible School utilizing volunteers, high school students and at a time that is most conducive to the greatest number of families.
  • Recruit manage and support a Faith Formation Advisory Board with representation of parents from both parishes.
  • Coordinate a morning Moms’/Parents group on one day a week.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Catechetical experience commensurate with the responsibilities of the position with professional ministry level knowledge of Scripture, theology, pastoral ministry and faith formation curriculum.
  • Ability to recruit, train and support volunteer catechists.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with parish staff and volunteer catechists.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and interaction with colleagues.
  • Understanding of contemporary social issues in light of Vatican II
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Parish Soft (or ability and willingness to learn)
  • Ability to motivate children and parents with flexibility, creativity and enthusiasm for falling in love with Jesus and the Church.
