The Archives Department at the Pastoral Center is currently looking for a full-time Director, Archive and Library to join their team. The Director of the Archive and Library is responsible for overseeing all functions related to the library, archive, and records management within the Archdiocese of Boston. This is a full-time position and you will need to work at the Pastoral Center in Braintree.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Long and short-term planning, budgeting, and making sure goals align and contribute to the mission of the archdiocese
Implementing best practices at parishes, schools, and central offices as they relate to records management and related activities
Initiate outreach activities to share diocesan history, archival treasures, and raise the profile of the archive within the community
This would include:
Developing and maintaining relationships with cultural and academic institutions
Creating exhibits for the Pastoral Center and special events; promoting and maintaining accessible digital collections
Using social media to promote the work of the archive, diocesan history, and other such themes.
Periodically visiting locations scattered throughout eastern Massachusetts
QUALIFICATIONS:
MLS from an ALA accredited institution or equivalent degree.
Commensurate experience in a library or archive setting, including supervisory experience.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team of individuals and help them grow towards achieving career goals.
Knowledge in all areas of library and archival sciences such as reference services, collections management, and outreach.
Candidates need not be Catholic but must be willing to support the mission of the Catholic Church.
PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS:
Ability to use a computer keyboard for up to 8 hours/day.
Ability to sit for up to 8 hours/day.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
