Archdiocese of Boston Honors its Priests at Seventh Annual Dinner
Braintree, MA (September 16, 2015) – On Thursday, September 17, 2015, the Archdiocese of Boston will host its seventh annual dinner in Celebration of the Priesthood at the Seaport World Trade Center. This year’s dinner—consistently one of the most well-attended dinner fundraisers in the city of Boston—will draw an expected 1,600 guests.
The proceeds from this event directly benefit the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust, which cares for the health and well-being of the 614 active and senior priests of the Archdiocese of Boston. Independent from other archdiocesan entities, the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees including local business leaders and priests.
Cardinal Seán O’Malley, Archbishop of Boston, said, “We are grateful and blessed by the support that so many people have dedicated to this year’s dinner. These resources go a long way in helping us meet our commitment to provide an appropriate level of care for our priests who have given so much to our Catholic faithful. I especially want to thank Brian Moynihan for his willingness to chair this year’s event. His leadership and commitment to our priests is exemplified in his generosity of time and spirit.”
Brian Moynihan, CEO of Bank of America, said, “The priests of our Archdiocese serve our families and loved ones in countless ways. I join with the Cardinal in extending my sincere thanks for all they do each day to help encourage and support us.”
As in previous years, the dinner will highlight the ministry of Boston priests who exemplify the love, mercy, and commitment that all our priests devote to our parishes and ministries. One of the highlights is a video that will be available on
