Dec 10 - Statement To Fox25 - Holy Cross Cemetery Malden*

“In 2007, the Archdiocese of Boston and the Catholic Cemetery Association took extraordinary measures when it agreed to a request by the DiMarco and Keavy families to reopen the grave of James and Delia Keavy located in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA.  These steps followed a series of sensational and unfounded allegations by a former Catholic Cemetery Association employee. The result of these measures revealed that nothing inappropriate had occurred. Despite our findings, and in an effort to respect and honor the concerns of the family, the Keavy’s remains were placed in new caskets, interred in a double chamber lawn crypt and placed in the adjacent grave within the Keavy lot at the expense of the Archdiocese and the Catholic Cemetery Association.  In addition, a priest of the Archdiocese provided pastoral care to the DiMarco and Keavy families.  We are disappointed in the development of the filing of a claim, particularly in light of the unprecedented steps that we have taken to care for the concerns of the family.  The Archdiocese of Boston and the Catholic Cemetery Association look forward to presenting the facts in court. We respectfully decline further comment at this time.”
