July 15 - Statement Regarding Nine Decrees From Apostolic Signatura*
The Archdiocese is in receipt of nine decrees from the Apostolic Signatura regarding appeals on nine closed parishes. These closed parishes include: St. Frances Cabrini, Scituate; St. Jeremiah, Framingham; St. Anselm, Sudbury; Our Lady of Lourdes, Revere; Infant Jesus and St. Lawrence, Brookline; Star of the Sea, Squantum; St. Michael, Lynn; Ste. Jeanne d’Arc, Lowell; St. James the Greater, Wellesley.
"The Archdiocese is in receipt of nine decrees from the Apostolic Signatura regarding appeals of nine closed parishes. We are in the process of having the decrees translated from their original Latin text into English. While our initial review of the decrees appears to confirm that the Apostolic Signatura has affirmed the earlier decision of the Congregation of the Clergy regarding these closed parishes we look forward to a formal review of the translated text. The Archdiocese continues to seek a peaceful and prayerful end to the vigils. We welcome and encourage all who have appealed the parish closings to join us in our efforts to rebuild and heal our local Church."
