Our services include all lines of protection: insurance, loss control and risk management services, claims and litigation management, as well as training and consulting services, employee benefit programs such as health benefits, pension and life insurance. We bring these products and services to our participants through the support of an experienced, high quality professional staff and access to a broad array of world-class consultants and experts.
In addition to the protection and insurance, we provide training and consulting designed to identify and mitigate risks, prevent losses, and prepare for and manage incidents and claims. These services may come in the form of engineering inspections and analysis, life safety consultations, ergonomic studies, driver training, medical or legal consultation, representation and support, or specialized services and insurance products.
The mission of the Office of Risk Management is to provide Catholic parishes and institutions with the highest quality professional risk management services, insurance and protection programs, and employee benefits that are tailored and sensitive to the unique issues, relationships and risks of Catholic non-profit organizations. We strive to provide these products and services at costs that bring substantial savings to each of our participating organizations.
Our protections and services are provided through a combination of self-insurance programs and broad umbrella-type insurance policies. Bringing together a large number of Catholic entities under these programs permits substantial economies of scale in administration, services and products. In addition, the program size provides considerable negotiating leverage as a large purchasing entity. The ability to manage claims and risk analysis internally enables us to constantly monitor loss and risk developments and to manage those trends through innovative and effective loss control programs.
With the combined resources of a full professional risk management staff and modern, state of the art risk management and claims software and databases, we bring Fortune 500 corporate-quality risk management and protection to our Catholic non-profit participants.
In short, we enable our participants to take the risks necessary to further their mission and continuously improve their operational and financial strength.
Our programs are provided to two major groups: parishes and institutions. The programs and services are tailored to the specific needs of each group.
The parish participants consist of the 300 parishes of the Archdiocese of Boston and include their cemetery operations, schools, social service programs, as well the Archdiocesan Central Services, apostolates, pastoral agencies and offices.
Our institutional participants consist of other Catholic organizations not owned by the Archdiocese of Boston, although they may be affiliates. These institutions include schools, hospitals, nursing homes, social service agencies and religious orders. Any Catholic institution may participate in, and take advantage of, our programs regardless of their geographical location.
If you would like more information on becoming a participant in our programs, please contact Joseph McEnness at 617-746-5740.
